Men of Simplicity

Reaching and equipping men is strategic

Men who are simply and purely devoted to Christ are key to the restoration of the family, the revival of the church, reaching communities and the nations with the Gospel of Christ.

Don’t let another year go by without getting a plan to increase your impact for the Kingdom of Christ by equipping men to be simply and purely devoted to Christ.

Discipling Men

When you reach and equip men, you are reaching and equipping divinely appointed leaders, yielding a multiplied return in the home, the church, and the community.

Men are an increasingly unreached demographic in most communities.  Mike’s growing passion for reaching and equipping men led to the beginning of a weekly men’s discipleship journey called Men of Simplicity (MOS) in July 2009.

Your church can gather men together and as a group join the weekly Men of Simplicity discipleship journey.

5 THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT

Men of Simplicity

1.  WHAT IS MEN OF SIMPLCITY?

Men of Simplicity (MOS) is a discipleship journey led by evangelist Mike Thibodeaux for men. MOS is a true brotherhood, filled with biblical teaching, meaningful discussion, real accountability, and fellowship.

2.  WHY DOES MOS EXIST?

The goal of MOS is to equip men to live simply and purely devoted to Christ (2 Cor. 11;3), no longer living for themselves but for Christ who died and rose again on their behalf (2 Cor. 5:15).  We believe that men are God’s divinely appointed leaders to effect change in their homes, churches, and communities. Our vision is to reach the current generation of men so that a generation not yet born might know and put their trust in God (Psalm 78:3-8).

3.  WHEN IS MOS?

MOS takes place every Monday from 6:45pm-8:15pm (PT).

4.  WHERE DOES MOS MEET?

MOS is located in Gresham, Oregon with satellite groups across the Northwest. Each group meets together locally on Monday nights and connects for live online training (via Zoom) with the main MOS group in Gresham where Mike Thibodeaux, a full-time evangelist and disciple maker of 25 years, leads and teaches live each week.

5.  HOW DO YOU JOIN MOS?

Your church can join this brotherhood of men and become part of the discipleship journey by connecting with the Gresham MOS group via a Zoom Video Conference call. Session listening guides, discussion questions, and prayer guides are provided by Simplicity Ministries® for each session to churches that commit to participate.

Alternatively, even if your church is not participating, you can join MOS individually and participate fully via Zoom in the teaching, small group accountability, and discussion times with other men.

MOS fall term: Simple Evangelism

Simple Evangelism is biblical training for missional living. You will learn to have healthy relationships with God, believers, and non-believers; to be devoted to the apostles’ teaching, fellowship, eating together, and prayer; and to relate to non-believers so you can hear their story, share your story, and share God’s story.

MOS 2025 term: Apologetics

MOS 2025 will begin with a detailed study of apologetics. Topics will include the authority of Scripture, existence of God, claims of Jesus, and the evidence that Christ is Messiah, divine, and risen Lord. Don’t miss it!

MOS MEETING FORMAT

MOS meets weekly on Monday nights.  There are two main formats for the meetings: a teaching week and a discussion week.

Teaching week

An informal time of fellowship and connecting with other men begins the meeting (a light snack to be provided by a different man each week), followed by a brief time of prayer in accountability groups.  Then we move directly into our teaching time from God’s Word. After the Bible teaching, the men return to their accountability groups for a short debriefing. Each man answers the question: “What is the most significant thing the Lord has shown you tonight and how will you act upon it?” The session ends with a closing prayer.

Discussion week

An informal time of fellowship and connecting with other men begins the meeting (a light snack to be provided by a different man each week). Then, we move into an accountability time in small groups (of three to five men).  This time focuses on three key questions: 1. Have you been with Jesus? (relationship with God) 2. Have you been with believers? (relationship with family and the body of Christ) 3. Have you been with the lost? (relationship with the unsaved).  After the accountability time, the men move into discussion groups where they respond to questions regarding both the content and the application of the previous week’s Bible teaching.  The meeting closes with men returning to their accountibility groups for a  directed prayer time drawn from the Bible teaching.

Make the commitment

To God.

To family.

To MOS brothers.

Men are asked to commit to be actively involved. 100% attendance is not possible for many man. Sickness, unavoidable work issues, and family matters may hinder attendance occasionally.

Actively involved allows for two to three absences per term (3-4 months).  We ask each man to make this commitment to God, their family, and to the other MOS brothers – one term at a time.

This commitment helps foster spiritual growth, excellent group dynamics, and a true brotherhood. When a man is absent, it does affect the other men in the group.

At the end of each term, MOS members are asked to evaluate their experience and decide if they will make another commitment to be actively involved in the next 3-4 month term.
